I had been to Sheveport several times prior to my visit to the Refuge. I will now try to include a stop here every time I visit. Great trails, peaceful, not crowded at all, good visitor center. But get there before 4 PM if you need access to a restroom because there aren't any other facilities available outside. I highly recommend visiting this natural treasure.
First-timer here from Monroe. Found RedRiver looking for a place to take nature shots. My dad and I came today and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I saw a huge number of white-throated sparrows. My only regrets are that I left my DSLR at home and that it was very cold outside. On the other hand, I did catch this big patch of red spider lilies.
I absolutely love this place! Highly recommend it to anyone that loves nature and outdoor activities. It's also children friendly. It's very unique.
Peaceful and beautiful. It's a wonderful place to take a walk with the family or just walk with the one you love. My first visit was when I first came to Louisiana and it made me fall in love with my new home.
A great place to go and just relax in the peaceful and quiet nature of the woods. Or if you love to exercise come and walk the trails open year round. Once your done go and check out the store inside the nature center.
