We moved to Shreveport a year ago and found what we thought was a great home. We looked at the home and fell in love immediately, especially with the yard. We looked at the home, as well as a few others. At the time we looked at the home it was dirty, but we were told it would be cleaned. When we moved in, the house was NOT clean. The house was not clean because the water had been shut off by the city (and was still off when my husband moved into the home) because the previous resident failed to pay the water bill. When I say dirty, I mean STRONG odor and serious grime. My husband bleached the cabinets and still they were brown and grimey inside. The refrigerator had moldy and exploded messy food smeared all over the insider of the freezer and fridge. When we asked the rental agency about this they said it was the responsibility of the renter to clean the fridge out. So we had them take the fridge out and bought a new fridge. I am tight with my money, but that is how disgusting the fridge and freezer were. The home was not just dirty, it was GROSS. They DID give us a small financial compensation for moving into a dirty house, but when we moved out they charged us for a dirty home... despite the fact that the home was more clean when we moved out than when we moved in.
Although this cleaning situation is annoying, I would not be writing this review if the staff had handled everything better. When we were first moving in, they wouldn't respond to phone calls. My husband had to go in to the office to get anything done. The reason I keep mentioning my husband handling them, by the way, is because not a single woman there would speak to me or look me in the eye when we were at that office. The most upsetting part of this rental situation is when we moved out they went total radio silence. We waited an entire month after we moved out and we heard NOTHING of our deposit being returned to us or them keeping the deposit. Louisiana law states that the deposit should be returned to the renter within a month of the renter vacating the property. When my husband called to ask about our deposit, the woman he spoke with (not the woman in charge of our rental, but I think the person who answers the bulk of the calls) was very rude to my husband and told him that we were not only probably not getting our deposit back because the house was dirty, but also we were late on rent. She said that we would receive a call back and we did not. He called twice (over the course of a few days) and we never received a call back. He had to go in to the office and threaten to get lawyers involved before there was any action take to give us our deposit back (late). Even then, my husband had to wait repeatedly for the check because they were "busy" and they had to get a number on how much it would cost for them to do yard maintenance.
I don't normally drag businesses on the internet, but I think it is important to spread the word to other Shreveport/Bossier renters about this rental agency. I can't speak about the quality of their home sales, but we were very unhappy with the rental portion of this business. Also: Military Beware.
I want to urge military families to look elsewhere for rentals in the Shreveport/Bossier area. Luckily, we were just moving across the neighborhood in Shreveport and not in the middle of a PCS. I cannot imagine dealing with and worrying about them getting their collective butts in gear/poor attitude and customer service in the middle of a PCS. I understand that because it is spring there are probably a lot of people vacating and moving in to homes and there is a lot going on, but a rental agency should be expected to handle all of their renters in a professional or timely manner and should be able to stick to the legally stipulated timelines set out by the state.
